This years inaugural event will take place in Rypin, Poland between 15th and 22nd July.
We invite anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 to register their interest in attending. After the initial deadline for registration we will contact everyone who we are able to offer a space at the event with details of how to pay and when by. Of course it may still be possible to register your interest in attending after the initial deadline but you’ll have less chance of getting an invite to attend the event. Also if you only just fall outside this age range, don’t feel too disheartened as their may be some flexibility in accepting you depending on how many people register interest or if maybe not many people from your nation have registered.
The event will start on the Friday afternoon with a participant briefing followed by flying if the weather allows. After flying we will have a opening ceremony for the festival. Weather permitting there will be morning and evening flying every day weather permitting, however if we get perfect weather every slot we may schedule a rest day sometime in the middle of the week to have a trip somewhere.
There’ll be opportunities to go swimming with a
large swimming pool with slides in the city centre where we may also do things like Tenpin Bowling. We also plan to arrange some opportunities to do some Stand Up Paddleboarding. There will also be plenty of opportunity to chill out and play music or kick a ball about and we may even have a DJ evening, perhaps on an evening when we know we won’t be flying in the morning. On the Thursday evening we will have the final flight and survivors dinner, allowing participants all of Friday to set off on their travels home, however for those in no rush we hope to provide the opportunity to do one last relaxed flight on the Friday morning (particularly if some slots have been missed because of the weather).
Accommodation will be in large tents and participants will take it in turns helping with cooking, tidying and day to day tasks. Whilst all participants will rotate between balloons and retrieve vehicles allowing every participant the opportunity to experience flying and crewing with different people of different nationalities and flying balloons from different manufacturers too, we aren’t going to be too strict and you will have the chance to fly with your friends you’ve travelled with too, particularly if you’ve travelled out together a long way with your own balloon. We hope to have between 30 and 40 participants from around the world this first year but we hope to grow the event in future years. We plan to have enough balloons to have at least 70% of participants in the air at any one time, this will mean everyone flies more slots than they retrieve.
